On behalf of Mr. Collins and myself, I wanted to thank you again for having joined us today as we start the 2017-2018 school year.  The presentation from our time together can be found attached to this artical, and here are 'parking lot' questions that were submitted and the subsequent answers:

  1.  How do I enroll in the WVHS all-call?
    • There is no enrollment process for the all-call, only an 'opt-out' choice.  The student's primary phone number is used for the all-call if the student is on our rolls and in the student-management system we have for Walker Valley High school.  If you do not receive a call on Sunday afternoon (August 6th) at 5:30 p.m., please contact the school so that we can research why you did not receive the phone call.
  2. How do you sign up for buses?
    • Bus service for all of our zoned areas is provided by the county.  To find out when and where your student would pick=up the bus, please visit the county website at, and click on the 'bus locator' tool on the left hand side of the page.  On this page, you can look up your bus based upon your street address.  You can also find the number for the bus contractor, who can tell you about approximate pick-up times based upon your street address.
  3. Are criminal justice classes available for 9th graders?
    • When scheduling elective courses, presidence is given to upper classmen for seats in a given career technical education class, such as Crimnal Justice.  With that being the case, it is very rare for Freshmen to get a seat in this class, because the Seniors, Juniors, and Sophomores who need the seats to complete their program of study tend to take them all.  Criminal Justice is a very popular course of study and has a lot of interest from students.  In answer to this question, I would have to say that the chance of a freshman being scheduled for the class is remote, but may have happened in a year when we had fewer upperclassmen select the course.

Again, thanks for having been with us today.  If you should have any other questions, please feel free to email me at

- Mr. Akiona
