The Walker Valley High School Junior Civitan Club is starting strong for the 2017-1018 school year! Members Makaylah Shoemate, Ivy Miller, and Kayleigh Shoemate accompanied Mrs. Hammer, Club Advisor, to the Civitan Appalachian District Meeting in Knoxville, TN on Saturday, August 5, 2017. There they were presented an award from Junior Civitan International for participation in the Social Causes Awareness Campaign. Members represented Walker Valley as one of nine active clubs in the district. New clubs currently being chartered at McMinn County High School and Cleveland High School are coming on board to "mirror" many of the service projects and ideas at Walker Valley. Mrs. Hammer stated "Our vision is to partner with these local schools and unite as one for the benefit of our community." WVHS Junior Civitan can be found on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Students may find applications for membership and club information on the Walker Valley website Junior Civitan Club page.
